Ok, so where we left off was Lacey's creepy roving eye thing thing found the
room with the machine. We made our way toward it and entered a huge
spherical room, sort of like Xavier's Cerebro. There are four exits. One
of the exits is connected to a platform in the middle with a little control
console. Using the console, you can rotate the room to access one of the
other exits. Rachel did that and we encountered two traps. Thomas failed
his reflex on both and was knocked off the platform, twice. Poor guy.
Anyway, we rotated the room again and the next room was the machine room.
It was huge, maybe 100ft+ in one direction and at least 50ft+ in the other,
basically a huge oval. The machine was in the center. 15 warforged (is
that one word or two?) were lounging around the room, doing whatever
warforged do in their spare time.
We came up with a plan. Rachel was going to alter person on herself and
become the head of House Canith. She was going to enter the room, at which
point Bob, who was invisible, would use Ghost Sound to make it appear like
the gate room was under attack. We all thought it an excellent plan. She
would bluff that she had no idea what was happening, but state that it
likely came from the gate room, and order most of the warforged out of the
room. Then we'd block off that entrance so they couldn't get back in and
kill the guys who stuck around.
Things didn't go as planned. When she entered the room the illusion broke
and she was revealed to be herself. So we entered battle mode. Bob and I
both had spells prepared, so we unleashed our fireball and arrow storms. At
one point Matt summoned four big snake-like monsters which really helped.
Rachel was all over the place, poking things and selflessly helping them
become dead despite their insistence that they wanted to not die. She was
generous.
Bob did chain lightning. I did another arrow storm. In short, we tore them
apart. Two tech warforged remained. We figured they'd help us take the
crystal or at the very least give us a copy of the instruction manual.
That's where we left off.
